The Italian company SWS S.p.A assisted by the Law Firm Brahimaj & Ferizaj was awarded a contract in Albania, for the study on the development of an investment plan for a new railway link from Pogradec, Albania to the Greek border/Krystallopigi.
SWS will deal with the preparation and development of the strategic investment plan for connecting Greece and Albania via a new railway link from Krystallopigi (Greece) to Pogradec (Albania) of a total length of approximately 130 km.
It is an important line that will allow trade between different countries since the track will be part of the Corridor VIII which includes the Port of Durres, a significant commercial exchange node being the largest seaport of Albania. At the same time, the rail link will also establish a strategic connection with TEN-T Mediterranean Corridor in Italy (Port of Bari) directly from Greece territory.

The Law Firm invites, its Clients and not, to submit an EoI concerning TAP
TAP has reached an advanced stage in its project development and begins a pre-qualification process, inviting steel pipe producers to an expression of interest, in preparation for construction.
TAP and E.ON New Build & Technology (ENT), who are conducting the onshore engineering for the TAP project, will be implementing a two staged pre-qualification process beginning on the 1st of February 2013. Steel pipe suppliers who wish to apply, are required to demonstrate that they will be able to produce the steel volumes needed, on time and according to TAP's specifications.
TAP will require approximately 400'000 tonnes of steel pipe to lay approximately 800 km of 48 inch pipeline, over a three year construction period.
TAP is therefore beginning the pre-qualification for steel pipes in advance of its final investment decision, in order to remain fully aligned with the Shah Deniz II gas field development in Azerbaijan."
TAP is currently in the front-end engineering design stage (FEED) awaiting final decision of the Shah Deniz Consortium on its preferred gas transportation solution to Europe.
Should TAP be selected by mid-June 2013, it will be able to start construction in 2015 with the first gas flowing by the end of 2018. TAP will construct the pipeline in line with the highest health and safety standards.

13 February 2013 The Law Firm has participated in the International Privatisation Procedure of 4 HEC Bistrica I & Bistrica II sh.a. and Ulez & Shkopet sha. published from Government of Albania, assisting one of his client.
M.E.T.E. Ministry of Economy Trade and Energy for this procedure has contracted the IFC - World Bank Group as Advisor.
The Law Firm is not overall sodisfied from this procedure, because of the fact that the IFC had a role not only as the Advisor but also as a financial institution, financing part of the Purchase Price of the Winning Bidder.
